Montbron is a small tourist town of about 2200 inhabitants, situated in the Charente and close to the Limousin National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is rich in historical heritage with the castle, the Leper Chapel, and the Romanesque church of Saint Maurice of the XII century.
The town has a full range of bars, restaurants and shops (including supermarkets) all within walking distance of the market square. The area is traversed by the Tardoire river and its valley in which the local community have invested heavily. The investment has included restoring the many riverbank properties which now house restaurants, visitor centers and the like.
The Tardoire valley and surrounding area holds many delights for outdoor enthusiasts which can be discovered on foot, horseback, bile or by canoeing down the river. The area also benefits from an 18 hole golf course of international renown.
