cHAREnte (16)

ANB Immobilier are based in a town called Montbron, in the Charente.
Charente is a department in the Poitou-Charentes region of south west France which takes its name from the most important river in the department, the Charente River.  The Charente’s two largest towns are Angoulême and Cognac.

Angoulême:
The historic and vibrant city of Angoulême is the town in the heart of the Charente and apart from having major retail outlets, hotels, a mix of international restaurants and bars, is also the link from T G V to Eurostar UK and many major cities.

Throughout the year some exciting events are held in the city, including the spectacular classic car rally (Circuit International des ramparts) held on the ramparts in September which attracts visitors from all over Europe.

For more information on this and other events check out the Angoulême tourist board website.

dordogne (24)

Dordogne is a department bordering Charente in the south west of France.  It is part of the Aquitaine region between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees, and is named after the great Dordogne river that runs through it.  Major towns in this department are Périgueux, Bergerac and Nontron.

Nontron: The town of Nontron is situated in the heart of the Périgord Vert and offers a varied mix of ancient and modern architecture, including the medieval ramparts of the fortress of Nontron, the château and the historic rail viaduct. The local amenities include major supermarkets, banks and all the usual services.

The town of Piegut with its weekly Wednesday market is approx. 15 minutes away and the Historic town of Brantome with the weekly Friday market is approx 16 km.
The famous food festival which is held in the summer including the truffle festival attracts many visitors as does the Knife Exhibition which includes demonstrations of various knife products, some of which are the Nontron Brand manufactured in the town.

For more information on events please see the website for Nontron tourist office.
